Low-Pressure
Solar Water Heater: 210 Liter

Water storage tank not included, shown for demonstration.

º   210 liter capacity will provide water for a family of four,
Needs only full sunshine for heating.

º   Designed specifically for tropical low-pressure (gravity) water systems
operating at maximum 10 psi/.69 bar.

º   Simple, low cost design. The replaceble tank is well insulated,
to keep water warm for morning use.

º   Lowest cost, most durable, simplest design available.
º   Owner installation and maintenance.
º   Nothing to service or maintain.
Installation with 1/2 DIN brass fitings, available the world over.

The Mata Air Bali Low-Pressure Solar Water Heater needs only sunshine and low pressure water (from a rooftop or tower-top tank), to produce hot water. One unit can produce an average of 8 showers and two dish washings per day, depending on average hours of sunlight.

There are no moving parts. The Mata Air Bali Low Pressure Solar Water Heater requires no electricity, LPG, bensin, etc. - Needs only unobstructed sunshine morning until night.

The inner steel water tank is user replaceable. Made from a 210 liter standard steel drum, lined with enamel for corrosion resistance. The acrylic lens dome is designed to insulate the tank from rain and night cooling, and to focus and concentrate solar heat onto the drum inside. The dome is made with added "UV absorber", long-lasting in hot tropical sun.

The base is fully insulated, insuring water remains hot through morning and during colder times. This "batch water heater" works very well in slightly-cloudy weather, as sunlight more readly penetrates the lens/ dome, when not bounced-off the outer surface during direct sun times.

   Construction:
Frame: Polyester Resin and fiberglass cloth. "UV absorber" is added for extended life.
Insulation: Sealed polyisocyanurate foam, same as that used in most residential water heaters and doors.
Dome: Pure acrylic glass, 7mm thick. "UV absorber" is added to insure long life.
Water input and output fittings: Standard 1/2 DIN pressure fitting made specifically for PE pipe.
Pipe port: 2 cm soft rubber
Internal support brackets: Aluminum.

 Installation Recommendations:
1) Full, unobstructed sunshine, early morning through late afternoon, year-round.
2) Gravity water source, no more than 10 psi/ .69 bar pressure.
3) Flat and absolutely level surface, at least 120 cm X 120 cm or larger.
4) The Water Heater should be located slightly below the cold water supply tank (at least a meter or two from the top of the water heater to the bottom of the supply tank) to work efficiently.
5) The water heater should preferably placed on a concrete roof very near the bathroom/ kitchen, keeping the hot water line as short as possible.
6) If the water heater is to be located on a high area, we recommend adding at least 50cm walkway on each side to accommodate servicing.
7) A regulator valve should be placed in line with the cold water supply - after the water heater line - before the hot/cold mixer valves in the bathroom or kitchen. The cold water will need to be regulated down a little, to match the output of the hot water pressure.
8) We highly recommend the supply water tank hold a minimum of 1500 liters.

to a pumped or public water supply.
1/2" fittings conserve water by restricting flow.
The tank's internal pipe is made of 1/2 DIN brass or stainless steel.
Use one 210 liter water heater per shower and sink combination

Product Reviews

From Sarah Amilia
I like it because it is efficient, I don't have to spend much money, yet I have more than enough hot water. I also like it because it still works even when there is not electric power or the LPG runs out. My biggest concern is about power surges that could endanger when using electric hot water heaters. The hot water can really makes the body more refreshed and reduces fatigue after work. (Translated)

From Andre Wicaksono
Thank-you Mata Air Bali, you have given the best solution for our villa. With the natural process of your product, our guests are very satisfied, they have enough hot water everyday, even when cloudy. We like your Solar Water Heater because of the safety - there is no danger of short circuit or power surge that could lead to disaster... And we were also very satisfied the installation kit, that made installation so much easier. (Translated)

From Hery Susanto:
Regarding Solar Water Heating products Mata Air Bali. After I installed this (water heater) I showered every day using hot water. The bad rash on my back was all healed and disappeared on its own, and my dizziness disappeared after the hot water bath. I think hot water generated by solar power is much better than by gas or electric power. (Translated)

From I Wayan Permana:
The Solar Hot Water Heater is easy and efficient because it perfectly well insulated. It's inexpensive to buy and free to maintain - does not cost more after the initial installation. I like it. (Translated)

From Made Made:
I have no problem with your solar water heater, in my opinion it's really good you know, because the water is hot and perfect..... I love to shower a long time, because the hot water shower is refreshing and healthy. (Translated)

Why is the Mata Air Bali Solar Water Heater the least expensive on the market today?

1) Low overhead. Our products are hand-made (not using expensive moulding machines) in Bali, not imported. We support our community.

2) All the materials used in construction are made in Indonesia - lower transportation costs, no import fees.

3) Our water heating system is passive, there are no moving parts, no secondary holding tanks, no chemical transfer systems, no pumps. no on-going service calls.

4) The inner steel drum collector/ holding tank is thin-walled, rapidly collects heat and keeps manufacturing costs low. We use only new high-quality drums, coated with black enamel to prevent corrosion.

5) The durable outer shell is made from arcylic and polyester resins and fiberglass, longer-lasting and less expensive than sheet metal used on other systems.

6) Our factory is designed for energy efficiency - we only have and need 6 amps of public power to run our equipment. We wash the products with collected rain water. Waste materials are recycled.

7) We wash moulds and products using simple baking soda and vinegar, or laundry soap. Less expensive, works better than volitile solvents, and is friendly to the environment. All waste water is filtered and remains on site, good for the community.

8) We don't engage in expensive advertising or promotions, which can add considerable costs to the products.

Why Use Solar Power?
by eHow.com

With the rising cost of energy and the prospect of shortages in the future, the idea of harnessing the power of the sun as a renewable energy source is gaining in popularity around the world. According to Solar Direct, there are more than 300,000 solar water heating units installed in the U.S., and the number is growing as people realize the many advantages of solar heating.

Systems

There are two types of solar water heating systems--passive and active. Passive, as the name implies, involves no moving parts. The simplest passive system consists of a dark-colored water tank exposed to sunlight. Passive heaters work on the principle of convection, in which hot water rises and cold water sinks within the tank in a continual process as long as there is sunlight available. Active systems employ pumps to move water from the collector to the water tank.

Available Energy

One of the biggest advantages of solar energy is that it is readily available to everyone, cutting out the necessity of the public energy provider. According to one Arizona utility company, just a portion of the roof of a typical house receives more energy than is needed to heat water for its occupants for more than a year. There are systems designed to work in any climate.

Other Advantages

Using solar energy has a positive impact on the environment by reducing the use of nonrenewable energy sources to heat water, such as gas, coal, oil or nuclear power. Solar energy is safe, efficient, reliable and non-polluting. The consumer has direct control over the system, and unlike conventional water heaters, hot water is available even during a power outage.

Nuclear and Fossil Fuels

The purchase and use of any appliance that needs electricity, LPG, etc. is an endorsement of nuclear power and fossil fuels, and the wars their shortages cause.

Increasing demand for these conventional power systems speaks much more loudly than any vote or opinion. Even if a nation does not presently use nuclear power, any increase in demand makes for energy shortfalls that desperate governments need to fulfill. Their easiest solution is to secumb to richer nations that will gladly supply these profitable systems, often in exchange for the strip-mining of minerals and forests, financial enslavement of whole nations through debt.
